PREPAREDNESS
Be prepared to: 1. Challenge yourself 2. Explore new ways of thinking 3. Be respectful of others views and opinions 4. Move around, be comfortable with others 5. Stay focused on tasks at hand 6. Transition quickly and effectively from one task to the another. Also: - Bring a pen, pencil crayons, pencil, ruler - have a binder to store your things, - do your homework when assigned, submit on time. GRADING Based on a variety of Rubrics, grading is as follows: A - Mastery of material and skills B Proficiency shown throughout tasks. Very capable. C+ Competency shown in major skills. C Activating learning for growth. Steps towards C- Working on developing the necessary tools for success Incomplete - More work must be done before a grade can be assigned. Each term you will receive the grade you earned during that term. Your final grade will be based on my assessment of what level you achieved the grade level outcomes at the end of the year. |

Skill - Evaluating Current Events
The World is unfolding around us. We will have a chance to explore some of the relevant news events that impact our lives and the world. Students will "teach" the lesson to the class.

Skill - Understanding World Geography and Cultures
This offers an opportunity to understand the geography of our world better. Student will explore and navigate world maps based on themes, learning map skills along the way. Indigenous Peoples history, culture and struggle will be discussed, explored and celebrated.

Skill - Understanding the Past and its impact on today
Cultures have not changed that much since the inception of the idea. We will explore the roots of societies' development. We will also explore the early years of our planet and the idea of the fossil record. Students will critically think about the commonality and differences of empires and the human experience across time and space
